What do I know about feeling like this?
At 21 years old, I was facing my first experience of anxiety. I remember walking down the high street only a few days after my birthday, gasping for breath. Tears in my eyes. Feeling completely puzzled about where this sensation was coming from.
The truth was, I was frightened by the nagging voice in my head telling me, ‘I’m a disappointment’
I’d heard it before and I knew what it meant. I wasn’t enough, I don’t do the right things, I don’t make people happy. And this makes me a disappointment to everyone else.
At that point, I didn’t know where to start to overcome this horrible feeling. But the paralysis from anxiety kept coming for me so I knew I had to do something.
That is when I turned to personal development and self-help books. Thankfully, they helped me feel inspired, individual and appreciate who I am. I began to reveal my true power.
The hardest part though was implementing everything I was learning. Often, I’d find myself listening to that voice again and slipping back into bad habits that I knew didn’t support me. I felt as I was on a yoyo of emotional highs and emotional lows because I didn’t have a handle on myself.
I also knew that there were other people, just like me, struggling to change their mindset and their life too. So,o, I created my mindset journal to lay out the steps and exercises needed to take back control.
Now, I have completely turned my life around. The anxiety that gripped me melted away as I stopped believing the negative voice in my head. I trust myself. I believe in myself and my abilities. I’d never had that before this personal development journey I embarked on.
